Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Identify basic freestyle stroke mechanics of fingertip entry, center line pull, thumb touch, high elbow recovery

  • Identify the importance of a high elbow recovery while swimming freestyle

  • Describe the position on the body of the thumb touch at the end of a stroke

  • Describe the importance of a center line pull during the underwater phase of the stroke

  • Identify how body rotation affects momentum and propulsion

  • Describe timing and methods for exhaling while swimming freestyle

  • Identify the right amount of knee bend for an effective kick
